FTC Announces Second Federal Register Notice on Proposed Orders Requiring Electronic Cigarette Marketers to Produce Information about Sales and Marketing Expenditures
The Federal Trade Commission today announced that it is issuing a second Federal Register notice on proposed compulsory process orders to marketers of electronic cigarettes to provide information about their sales and marketing expenditures, and is seeking clearance from the Office of Management and Budget to issue the orders.
The FTC plans to use the information collected as a basis for a report on the sales, marketing activities, and expenditures in this new market, which has grown rapidly over the past several years. In October 2015, the FTC issued a Federal Register notice seeking public comment on the proposed information collection. The Commission received 37 comments in response to that notice, and they are addressed in the notice announced today.
The second notice, which will be published in the Federal Register shortly, also requests public comment. All comments received will be posted on the FTC’s website and must be received within 30 days after the notice is published in the Register.
